Telangana - Now Is The Right Time

Looking at the sudden increase in the interest of the political parties, I was wondering when are we going to get a separate Telangana State carved out of Andhra Pradesh State, which is as big as England.
I kept wondering the reason for a state as big as England and all the three parts (Andhra, Raayalaseema and Telangana) claiming to be backward.
We have stayed together almost 60 years and all the three parts of the state are poor. So, what is the need to be together when everyone is not happy.
Best way is to separate - peacefully.

Why are the politicians from the other parts of the state not ready for a split ?? They are afraid that their area of importance is going to decrease and their bargaining power would take a beating with the central government regarding the Central Government funds.

Some Facts regarding Telangana:

The area of Telengana is 1,14,800 Sq Kms.
Telangana represents 42% of the total area of the state and is home to 40% of its total population.

Telangana comprises 10 districts of AP:
Adilabad
Hyderabad
Karimnagar
Khammam
Medak
Mehboobnagar
Nalgonda
Nizamabad
Ranga Reddy
Warangal

History of Telangana:

Telangana region has been ruled by many great dynasties like Sathavahanas, Chalukyas, Kakatiyas, Mughals, and the Qutubshahis. As the Mughal Empire began to disintegrate in the early 18th century, the Muslim Asafjahi dynasty established a separate state known as Hyderabad. Later Hyderabad entered into a treaty of subsidiary alliance with the British Empire, and was the largest and most populous princely state in India. Telangana never under direct British rule, unlike Coastal Andhra and Raayalaseema regions of Andhra Pradesh, which were part of British India's Madras Presidency.

Andhra Pradesh consists of three distinct regions, namely, Andhra, Raayalaseema and Telangana. Andhra and Raayalaseema were part of Madras province of the British empire. For approximately 400 years, Telangana was part of Hyderabad State, an independent kingdom ruled by Muslim Qutub Shahi and Asafjahi (Nizam) dynasties.

Hyderabad state has parts of Karnataka and Maharashtra in it - until they are merged with those states.
Remaining part of Hyderabad state is merged with Andhra State, thus forming Andhra Pradesh in 1956.
The slang of Telugu spoken in Telangana is very different from the rest of the state.
Telangana Telugu is a mixture of Telugu and Urdu.
The culture and traditions of Telangana are quite different from that of the rest of the state.

The Nizam was the world's wealthiest person during the time of independence.
Lot of Hindus are forcefully converted into Islam with a sword at their neck and Urdu was made official language.
During the time of Independence from British, thousands of Hindus were massacred by their Muslim rulers, thus forcing the Indian Army to perform a "Police Action" on the Nizam forces and liberate Hyderabad.

Merger of Andhra and Telangana Regions:

The States Reorganization Commission (SRC) set up by the government of India in early 50s to examine the question of reorganization of states of the country was, in fact, not in favour of merging the Telangana region with the then Andhra state. Para 382 of States Reorganization Commission (SRC) said "..opinion in Andhra is overwhelmingly in favour of the larger unit, public opinion in Telangana has still to crystallize itself". The concerns of Telanganas were manifold. The region had a less developed economy than Andhra, but a larger revenue base (mostly because it taxed rather than prohibited alcoholic beverages), which Telanganas feared might be diverted for use in Andhra. They also feared that planned dam projects on the Krishna and Godavari rivers would not benefit Telangana proportionately even though Telanganas controlled the headwaters of the rivers. Telanganas feared too that the people of Andhra would have the advantage in jobs, particularly in government and education. Para 386 of States Reorganization Commission (SRC) said "After taking all these factors into consideration we have come to the conclusions that it will be in the interests of Andhra as well as Telangana area is to constitute into a separate State, which may be known as the Hyderabad State with provision for its unification with Andhra after the general elections likely to be held in or about 1961 if by a two thirds majority the legislature of the residency Hyderabad State expresses itself in favor of such unification."

The central government decided to ignore the SRC recommendations and established unified Andhra Pradesh on November 1, 1956. However, a "Gentlemen's agreement" provided reassurances to the Telangana people.

Grudges of Telanganas:

* Telangana is less developed compared to Andhra.
* Rivers like Krishna and Godavari flow through Telangana, but the water from the dams are sent to Andhra.
* Because of less literacy and backwardness of Telangana people, most of the new jobs, postings in government and education are given to people from Andhra.
* Except for common language, the people of Andhra and Telangana have different dialects, histories, cultural systems, different food habits

Separate Telangana Movement:

In the following years after the formation of Andhra Pradesh state, however, the Telangana people had a number of complaints about how the agreements and guarantees were implemented. Discontent with the 1956 Gentlemen's agreement intensified in January 1969 when the guarantees that had been agreed on were supposed to lapse. Student agitation for the continuation of the agreement began at Osmania University in Hyderabad and spread to other parts of the region. Government employees and opposition members of the state legislative assembly swiftly threatened "direct action" in support of the students. This movement also know as Jai Telangana movement led to widespread violence and deaths of hundreds of people and students of this Telangana region. Approx. 360 students gave their lives in this movement.

Although the Congress faced dissension within its ranks, its leadership stood against additional linguistic states, which were regarded as "anti-national." As a result, defectors from the Congress, led by M.Chenna Reddy, founded the Telangana People's Association (Telangana Praja Samithi). Despite electoral successes, however, some of the new party leaders gave up their agitation in September 1971 and, much to the disgust of many separatists, rejoined the safer political haven of the Congress ranks.

The emotions and forces generated by the movement were not strong enough, however, for a continuing drive for a separate state until 1990s when Bharatiya Janata Party, promised separate Telangana state if they come to power. But BJP could not create separate Telangana state because of the opposition from its coalition partner, Telugu Desam Party. These developments brought new life into separate Telangana movement by year 2000. Congress party MLA's from Telangana region, supported the separate Telangana state and formed a Telangana Congress Legislators Forum. In another development, a new party called Telangana Rashtra Samithi (or TRS) is formed with single agenda of separate Telangana state, with Hyderabad as its capital.

Present Talk of SRC:

Most of the political parties are now pitching for a separate state but in different ways.
While the Bharatiya Janata Party, Telangana Rashtra Samithi, Bahujan Samaj Party and the Communist Party of India want outright separate state, other parties like the governing Congress Party wants a State Reorganization Commission (SRC) to be established by the Central Government and then decide on the future of Telangana.
The opposition Telugu Desam Party is not ready for Telangana and they say that they will take a decision at "right time".
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) are also against Telangana for their own reasons.

It is high time politicians respect the aspirations of the people of Telangana. The demand of Telangana was made in 1952 but was considered not feasible and then shelved. In the late 60's, a huge political agitation took place but it was successfully put down by the state government.

Even though the agitation started off with economic problems in the background, now it has become more sentimental in nature.

It would be of everyone's good if we separate peacefully !!

Role Of Andhras in Hyderabad:

The people who are most worried with the formation of Telangana are the Andhras who have migrated to Hyderabad City after it is made capital of Andhra Pradesh.
Taking advantage of the Capital City, they established industries, started educational institutions and were imposing their style of language.
One way, they paved for the development of the city and the other way, they are trying to enforce their traditions on the region.
People who have migrated from Andhra and settled in Telangana are called as "Mulkis".

Benefits Due To Separation:

* Right now the coal is mined and electricity is produced in Telangana but most of it is supplied to Andhra region, while districts of Medak and Adilabad have four hours of electricity during the day during summer. In the new state, these districts will be fed with electricity.
* The rivers of Krishna and Godavari flow through Telangana, and the dams are in Telangana, but the canals carrying the water go to Andhra. In the new state, there would be new canals bringing water to the arid regions of Telangana bringing in prosperity to the farmers and local population.
* Most of the jobs, in government and education, are filled up by people from Andhra. In the new state, these jobs will go the local population.

With the above benefits in mind, it is for the welfare of the country that a separate Telangana state is formed - NOW !

By the way from where Godavari & Krishna waters are entering into Telangana? Who owns these rivers?

Do you know any statistics of development comparisions between Telangana & rest of Andhra(Rayalaseema&Andhra)?

What benifits are we going to get by separation? Do we have sufficients funds to achieve the goals? How does comman man benifits from this separation?

I am infavour of separation but only if the details are known. I donot want to go by what people talk & sentiments. The reasons given by you asking to form a separte state is not making any sense to me.

You are educated and hope you can help do collect info related to this recommend accordingly whether we need a separate state or not.

Cheers.

In times of crisis my heart goes out to the people of Telangana. No doubt we are on the right track for a seperate state but it could have been in a more peaceful manner. The loss of lives public properties could have been saved had our politicians stepped in and come to a solution. Telangana people need development, elecrticity, employment and the telangana culture which has to be revived.Look at Jharkhand how it has developed since its seperation from Bihar. A Smaller state can be goverened in a better way.A developed Telangana will be crucial in the Development of India. JAI TELANGANA

Well the so called self branded telengana guys in this forum, here is a message from me.You guys are a bunch of suckers playing the game where some vested interest have written the rules.None of this division is for your benefit but for some vested interests. When Jharkhand was formed so did a monster by name koda. What smaller states will crete is opportunities for more people to loot. You will still be sucking your thumbs!!I have no stakes whether Andrapradesh remains as one or break into 2 or 3 constituencies.i am tamil by the way and have least interest in all these scums who feather their nest in the name of caste, language, Religon and in your case a region..Instead direct your energies to be on the side of just honest truthful hardworking and sincere people wherever they come from in this country.I think the time has come for all just honest truthful hardworking and sincere people wherever they come from to form a separate region within this country.it will be a great place to live!!

The people who are also worried with the formation of Telangana are those who are weak and downthrodden and ever have been cheated down the generations by nizams and Doralu.During Razakaar movement before/after independance the so called doralu rejoined the region under the disguise of congress leaders and cheated the public. Now again they try to use the public and again loot the land for their vested interests.people who understand these motives are not for it.

May be the telengana movement is going for 60 years, but the time has changed.. the movement which is happend at 1960's was done by students and not by politicians and the movement done right now is by politicians and you are telling the whole history and what happened to telangana. Please go and see all regions of telengana and write your opionions. I went to adilabad, karimnagar, nizamabad which are very big cities right now..and currently the irrigation in nalagonda and karimnagar is the highest of all districts. And i know how much funds is given to adilabad for development, but u know abt politicians right..and u cant blame andhra and rayalaseema for the funds eaten by politicions and development stopped by politicions and 40% of telengana people are not understanding what is going wrong and blaming andhra and rayalseema.. and you also go to andhra and rayalaseema and u can see the cities are not as big as telengana cities which i saw..And i am sure we all repend after breaking our state and we cry after that because other states will laugh at us and also the funds will be reduced..No further improvement or motivation of development of hyd will not be given from rayalaseema and andhra (i.e is 7 crores population ), hyd will be again back to 80s which is nothing at the time of 80s..all the development goes to blr..we all die of hope..and no good leader in telengana frankly speaking..soon we all see the end if we are divided..our actually development started from 92..and now we end at 2009. thanks to you all for writing your stupid comments. Jai Andhrapradesh.

Pls post any comments by doing some home work not by listening some stupid rumors. someone said, krishna and godavari coming through sagar and not serving needs in Telangana. The Sri Ram Sagar Project which was constructed on this river (1964-69) serves the irrigation needs of Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar and Warangal districts. The following places mostly getting benefits with river godavari.
Basara, Adilabad (Gnana Saraswati Temple)
Nirmal, Adilabad (Nirmal Toys)
Goodem gutta, Adilabad (Temple)
Dharmapuri, Karimnagar (Narasimha Swamy Temple)
Kaleshwaram, Karimnagar (Kaleswara Mukhteswara swamy (Siva) Temple)
Manthani, Karimnagar (Gautameshwara Swami(Siva) Temple, Sri Rama, Sarswathi Temples)
Mancherial, Adilabad
Godavarikhani, Karimnagar

Can anyone say these places are not in telangana?

Sagar constructed to protect telagana and obviously water flows down stream and arriving to andhra region.Just imagine what happens if andhra wont allow to flow water through andhra. If telangana people want to stop this, its their foolishness.

The whole andhra pradesh corrupted by all the politicians (andhra, telangana and rayalseema) but who are suffering here, people.

You people are educated but still behaves like illiterates.

Be united everyone will be happy.
Keep in mind, be like a family and fight for development. but by separation there wont be any use.

very nicely said by madhav!!!
Telangana will be acheived soon
Where is JAI ANDHRA MOVEMENT gone now?
Why Jai andhra changed into samaykandhra. Did they realise now they cant lead their lives without depending on telangana.

very funny, now someone asking JAI ANDHRA MOVEMENT. why andhra need JAI ANDHRA MOVEMENT after achieving ANDHRA PRADESH. Does INDIA need "Quit India Movement" now after getting freedom from british? No. Same way andhra wont need JAI ANDHRA MOVEMENT.

The new SAMAKYA ANDHRA MOVEMENT is not only for andhra, rayalseema BUT also for telangana.
Telangana people never realise they are depending on andhra and rayalseema. Now hyderabad is in no.1 position because of andhra and rayalseema people. Who is main cause of building hi-tect city? ofcourse you people know who he is and where he is from.

Remember one thing, if the telangana separates, they are the one who suffers a lot and there wont be any future development/growth.Again they have to come back to andhra for help.

One more thing is hyderabad capital of andhra pradesh, so it belongs to everyone.

Why you people following politicians, especially KCR, he is the worst man who is enjoying spoiling the state and peoples death.

hello madhav,
pls answer this question.

let say instead of hyderabad, vijayawada is capital of andhra pradesh and developed same way as it is hyderabad and everyone (telangana, rayalseema, andhra) iinvested all the money in capital city (vijayawada). Same you asking andhra people to leave hyderabad, If we ask you (telangana people) to leave andhra. Are you ready to move?

Do you ever visited places in andhra? who the hell said the whole andhra was developed than telangana?
why you spoiling all your people by circulating this blog?
You are educated and behave like an educate and think broadly.

Dont forget you are an INDIAN.

If you want to develop places in telagana ,fought for that but separation never results in good development.

I know you people are not in a state to listen anyone. You will defintely regret in future.
dont forget my words.

Hi madhau,I appreciate for your great job.It was the major mistake by the govt of india in merging telengana with andhra and rayalseema. They developed there respective regions by ignoring telengana. This is the right time for telengana people to fight for their seprate statehood. But as an history scholar I want to make one correction that the mughals and hyderabad nawabs converted hindus into muslim on the basis of sword is wrong. The ganga jumana culture of hyderabad is famous all over the world.

OK, Take telangaana. But, if you want to form real telangaana. This is what you need to do first. (Real telangana status at the formation of AP) 1.Form telangaana with 16 discricts, Take back your discricts from maharastra and karnataka as well.(http://www.telangana.org/Papers/article11.asp) There were 8 Districts of Atraf Balda, Medak, Nizamabad, Mahabubnagar, Nalgonda, Warangal, Karimnagar and Adilabad districts in Telangana; 6 districts, Aurangabad, Nanded, Beed, Osmanabad, Bidar and Parbhani, Maratwada. Gulbarga and Raichur, 2 districts in Karnataka area. Altogether there were 16 districts. (ANY GUTS TO TOUCH MAHARASTRA OR KARNATAKA) 2.Generate your own telangaana stript( Use urdu scripts instead) (You dont want telugu talli, you want telangaana talli, you hate telugu, why take telugu script.) 3. Without hyderabad, you telangaanites are nothing. You claim , Hyderabad is yours. No, Not at all. Its the city developed by muslims. Give it back to muslims. Make a seperate princely state of Nizam. Lets divide four parts. Telangaana, Andhra, Rayala seema and Muslim's Hyd state. Any thoughts 4.Please make a list of people who grabbed lot of acres in telangaana region and hyderabad. Real estate owners, Actors, Politicians(binami), NRIs, Education institutions, News paper, Film studios, Farm Houses around hyderabad, Shopping complexes, IT companies, Pharma companies etc etc, Take all the land from them and there will not be any opposition for telangaana Last , but not least. It seems you telangaanites main intention is not getting telangaana, but Hyderabad. You will definitely get telangaana, without hyderabad- You can develop your state with another city as capital, build projects and industries, then it will be called YOUR TELANGAANA city . Telangaana Should be formed, but sacrifice is needed . No one object telangana to form as a new state. No issues, But at the same time, all telangana leaders want the rich Hyderabad developed not only by andhra, but by the people allover india. Simple straight question? Telanganites wanted Telangana state or Hyderabad? They are ready to accept hyderabad even without formation of telangana state. So, there is no confusion, They want hyderabad NOT telangaana. Why? To loot the rich hyderabad properties, Nothing else, Their concept of forming seperate state is false, they want control of hyderabad, for what ever reasons First form telangana, then think for hyderabad.

Anyone have guts counter this.

to all the people fighting for Telangana -
Are you clear about what benefits you are going to get if Telangana seperates.

Before all this did you ask the common man in this area as what they want.
A seperate statehood does not affect the living of common man. His living will not change.

So, I request you all to rethink on seperate state

Hi Adarsh,

Yes, Iam pretty clear on what I want from a separate Telangana State.
A separate statehood does not effect those in the cities but it does effect those in the interior villages.
A huge state which is as big as England or Israel, it has become difficult to develop every corner of the state. In a small state, it would be much easier "comparatively".
Telangana needs Irrigation projects and canals. We are not getting them due to the strong Andhra lobby which doesnot want the Godavari water to be blocked in Telangana.
With a separate state, we can construct irrigation projects and canals and the Central Water Tribunal would take care if any disputes arise.
With water, the entire area would be irrigated and thus we can kick out unemployment and poverty.
That's my Aim for a Separate Telangana state.

you are great madhav..
i never heard such a great philosophy. If separate statehood does not effect cities how come you think it will effect villages. I really pity you :).

Do you know how big London is? Each and every corner was developed.

I am sure that no common man will get advantage of this. Rich will become more rich and poor become more poor.

Here the only advantage is only for politicians especially KCR who wants to become CM for telangana.

The reason why students are agitating, they are the ones who got benefit once all the andhra rayalseema get rid of from govt jobs.

how do you think irrigation can kick out unemployment? do you think all the educated people will do irrigation works. even parents doesnt want his to do agriculture work everyone aims to become an engineer or doctor not a farmer.

Let me tell main reasons for separate statehood
1)Want to grab all the government jobs that doing by andhra rayalseema people because they not intelllegent enough to the jobs.

2) Want to vacate all the andhra rayalseema settlers in hyderabad and steal all the lands even though its not to them

3) Want to block water in telangana and not to send drop of water to andhra. but this doesnt work becoz water never goes upward. Even though if you try to stop, it will cause floods.

4)KCR wants to become CM

5)Wants to steal all the money andhra-rayalseema student for Engineering seats

6) Andhra -rayalseema employees has to pay more taxes

There is no humanity now everyone looking for their own benefits. Even educated people dont what the purpose they studies for.

People like you keep spoiling all the poor people and showing the differences between telugus.

God knows what happens these people.
This is the reason india still a backward country.

Jai Telugus...
